The 10” is pressed on translucent green vinyl with sleeve art by Belbury Poly's Jim Jupp. It’s released on Seatman’s own label KS Audio in association with Belbury Music.
A five track EP of collaborations with folk singer Douglas E. Powell selected from Keith Seatman’s Albums: A Rest Before the Walk and all hold hands and off we go.
It opens with a remix of the title track Broken Folk by Ghost Box veterans, Belbury Poly.
Melancholic and subtly psychedelic, these songs are redolent of supernatural short stories and winter afternoons out on English landscapes. In these dark rustic reveries, Seatman builds a dense collage of electronics, fragmented melody and found sound, around which Powell weaves his dreamlike lyrics.

about

Originally released as 10inch single, Broken Folk EP is now available as a Digital Download.
An EP of collaborations with folk singer Douglas E. Powell selected from Keith Seatman’s last two albums. It opens with a remix of the title track Broken Folk by stalwarts of British pastoral electronica Belbury Poly.

Melancholic and subtly psychedelic, these songs are redolent of supernatural short stories and winter afternoons out on English landscapes. They are dark rustic reveries, occupying the overlapping territory between haunted electronica and wyrd folk.

Seatman builds a dense collage of electronics, fragmented melody and found sound, around which Powell weaves his dreamlike lyrics.

The tracks have been remastered for the EP by Belbury Poly’s Jim Jupp and the 10” is pressed on translucent green vinyl with sleeve art by Jim Jupp.
It’s released on Seatman’s own label KS Audio in conjunction with Jupp’s Belbury Music.

Is it just me or is there something about the inflection on the vocals on the EP, alongside the gently woozy synthesized instrumentation and a sense that the songs also hint at some other hidden cultural meaning that bring to mind here and there the later recordings of Coil such as The Ape of Naples album? It is rather beautifully packaged, with cover art also by Jim Jupp that recalls the hardback cover of a pastorally inflected novel from maybe the 1940s or 1950s that you might discover quietly nestled away in a second-hand bookshop.
A Year in the Country (May 2019)

A pure psychotropic feast lays in wait that finds Seatman and Powell assuming a same page shared mind to join the dots of hauntology with a disparate array of psychedelic and wyrd folktronic waltzes. Beautifully weaved into a mesmeric eerie. Left in the hands of Jim Belbury, matters are slowed a tad and the haunting familiars bedeviling the updated Seatman / Powell are rewired into a pulsing fixed stare electronic mayday dance. All very essential, but then, did you really need me telling you.
The Sunday Experience (Oct 2018)

This 5 song 10inch EP combines the plaintive English voice of Powell placed amongst Germanic analogue organ, synths and sequencers creating the type of dark Cold War soundscapes favoured by the Radiophonic Workshop to the Human League. Floydian incidental music for a late 70s post nuclear meltdown drama.
